Goss Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors

The camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor are two important components that monitor the position and timing of the engine’s valves and pistons. The camshaft position sensor detects the angle of the camshaft and which valves are open or closed on each cylinder, while the crankshaft position sensor measures the rotational speed and position of the crankshaft. These sensors send signals to the engine control unit (ECU), which uses them to adjust the air-fuel mixture, ignition timing and other parameters for optimal performance and efficiency. The camshaft and crankshaft position sensors work together to ensure that the four-stroke cycle of intake, compression, combustion and exhaust is synchronized and coordinated. If either sensor fails or malfunctions, it can cause problems such as hard starting, stalling, misfiring, poor fuel economy or loss of power.
